Taqwa Bn. Ali

Born Sudan, 1997. Taqwa Ali is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher based in The Netherlands. Using diverse mediums of sculpture, painting, writing and performance, her work explores cultural landscapes particularly addressing topics of trans locational positions.

Inspired by displacement, the artist carefully selects materials that symbolises placement within a set of relations, practices and locations that implicate identification, performativity or notions where motion analysis emerges through the arts as a form of sense making and bridging locational gaps specially between her home country Sudan and the Netherlands where she immigrated to due to Sudan’s permanent civil wars.

Focusing on spatial landscape of both nature and the mind’s memory, locational identity is key factor where the human is an intrinsic tool, particularly within the spaces of the diaspora realm.
